Form of place. Form and emotional interaction with place

The sense of place is the factor that transforms a space into a place with the sensory characteristics and special treatment for specific individuals. Place is a sensible and perceived space and associated with memory, that part of its meaning can be traced in human experience and emotions. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the efficacy and role of architectural form and structure of environment to create positive and negative emotions in the human mind over the place. To achieve this purpose in the research process Descriptive analytical method by composition the sample examining “garden-tomb of Hafez”, is used. The result is that the physical environment and form through specific mechanisms involved in the sense of place and In the sample survey the fact that the structure of form of this place consists of components that not only create a sense of place, but effect on other factors that create the sense of place, is provided.

Rouhollah Rahimi was born in Mahallat,Iran in 1980. He is a Ph.D. candidate in Architecture at Tarbiat Modares University of Tehran with a thesis named “Relation between Physical Form and Place attachment in Architecture (Case study: Communal spaces of residential complexes in Tehran)”. He currently works as Researcher and visiting professor in the University if Rome Tor Vergata. He is also a faculty member of the University of Mazandaran. His research interests are: Sense of place, Urban regeneration, Social and public space, Urban form, Islamic architecture, Parametric design, Housing.

Mojtaba Ansari was born in 1956, Iran. He is an associate professor of Architecture at Tarbiat Modares University of Tehran. His research interests are: Persian Landscape Architecture, Applied Geometry & Geometrical Pattern in Persian Art & Architecture, Architectural Psychology, Bionic Architecture.

Mohammad Reza Bemanian was born in 1958, Iran. He is a full professor of Architecture at Tarbiat Modares University of Tehran. His research interests are: Wisdom of art, Islamic Architecture and Urbanism, Criticism and theory of Architecture and Urbanism, Building Tech and Management, Urban Management, Highrise Buildings.

Mohammadjavad Mahdavinejad was born in 1977, Iran. He is an associate professor of Architecture at Tarbiat Modares University of Tehran. His research interests are: Iranian contemporary Architecture, Heritage and Sustainable Development, Smart Technologies and Intelligent architecture, Parametric design, Optimization and Computational Algorithm in architecture, Contemporary Building Construction.
